Passionate love and jealousy can make people do things that might seem unthinkable. Everything starts with the disclosure of the affairs between these two people by a barbaric-king, who then with the purpose of disposing of the youth, sends him to a specially created trial, to administer his so-called "Poetic Justice". Ultimately, the fate of the youth, whether to die or to be awarded a beautiful lady, lies in the hands of the princess. The author of the story left the readers to decide whether there is a tiger or a lady behind the chosen door, and prompts the audience to choose one of these alternatives. However, if one thinks carefully, there might have been a third alternative, and in my opinion the optimal and fairest one: behind both doors lie a dead tiger and a dead lady this is of course being done by the princess.

Stockton there is a princess who is in love with a commoner. Her father, the king, found out and put him into jail. The princess knew which door had which outcome and led him towards one. One perspective is that the princess led the man to the door with the tiger. Another perspective is that she led. If you have a chance to save your lover, would you save his life? Would you let him go to live a happy life with another woman?

The story comprises of a spiteful king, an envious princess and an ardent suitor-long the staple elements of fairy tales. At the end of the story, Stockton does not tell the reader what lay behind the door. Stockton informs the person who reads that they should dwell on what they would do; rather, to place themselves in the mind of the princess.
