Dear Olive Garden, Never Change - Eater
Satire is a genre of the visual , literary , and performing arts , usually in the form of fiction and less frequently non-fiction , in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, with the intent of shaming individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. A feature of satire is strong irony or sarcasm —"in satire, irony is militant", according to literary critic Northrop Frye — but parody , burlesque , exaggeration , juxtaposition, comparison, analogy, and double entendre are all frequently used in satirical speech and writing. This "militant" irony or sarcasm often professes to approve of or at least accept as natural the very things the satirist wishes to question. Satire is found in many artistic forms of expression, including internet memes, literature, plays, commentary, music , film and television shows, and media such as lyrics. The word satire comes from the Latin word satur and the subsequent phrase lanx satura. Satur meant "full" but the juxtaposition with lanx shifted the meaning to "miscellany or medley": the expression lanx satura literally means "a full dish of various kinds of fruits".

Yet the very next evening, so was I, plus twice since then, and likely one more time before this week is out and I have a hunch I will not be alone. A year ago she nearly broke the internet when she said she likes to use a hairdryer to get the crispiest chicken skin. Look, I really like cabbage.
When I started reorganizing my cookbooks a couple of months ago, I took it as an opportunity to take stock of what I've collected over the years. I sifted through my shelves and put together a list of 20 books that have had the greatest impact on me over the course of my career. They aren't necessarily the best or most essential books around, but they are the ones that have had the most profound effect on me and my work through the years. Folks frequently ask me what I'm reading these days and the honest answer is, with a brand new kid to experiment on at home, a restaurant about to open , and some books of my own to write stay tuned for a sequel to The Food Lab , as well as a kid-focused project , I'm not reading all that much other than stuff on the internet that can be consumed in minute intervals.
